As we begin our study of Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar, it is important to understand Shakespeare’s life and culture as these influences come through in his plays. So, with this in mind, you will research a topic related to Shakespeare’s life and times and create a short multimedia presentation (using parenthetical notes). You will work in groups of three to research an assigned topic relating to Shakespeare's life and/or culture to teach to the class. Your group will become experts on your topic. Each group will create a one page essay and a digital presentation in Google Drive with the pertinent information the class needs to know before reading the plays. You will then present both parts of the project to the class. The following are the details for each portion of the project.
Digital Google Presentation: As a group, you will create a presentation that provides the class with the information you find on the websites listed below. You may use additional websites if you choose, but using Wikipedia is NOT allowed in any way. Be sure to cover any important information about your topic which must including the questions provided for you. You must use at least 2 sources to collect the information for your Google Slides presentation. Your goal is to give the class information about your topic to aid them in understanding your portion of Shakespearean culture. As you sift through the web sources, decide on information that is vital to understanding your topic and include that in the presentation; you can also add information that you found interesting about your topic. At least 10 slides of text (NOT counting a title slide or works cited slide). Be sure the text is large enough for your classmates to see while you present; also be careful what color text you use in relation to your background color (some combinations can be difficult to read). Remember: you can tell your audience more information than what is written on your slide! You are to include multimedia elements in your presentation. You can use a combination of pictures, video, and/or audio of various items that you are discussing. The presentation as a whole should be colorful and pleasing to the eye. Be sure to have correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. See your rubric for grading details.
One Page Paper: Your group should expand on the information presented in your Google Slides presentation in your one page paper. Your paper should be typed in Google Docs. It should be double spaced with a font of NO LARGER than 12 pt. Your paper cannot be any longer than two pages.
Presentation to Class: Your group will then present your Google Slides presentation to the class. Each person must speak equally in the presentation; therefore, if you have a 10 slide digital presentation (the minimum), each person is responsible for presenting 3 of the slides. Each student will be graded for their speaking skills (volume, eye contact, posture/gestures, and articulation) individually (see rubric).
